Holidaymakers will soon be able to purchase a Greggs sausage roll at Tenerife South Airport when the bakery chain opens its sole international outlet later this month. The company, which last operated shops abroad in Belgium in 2008, has selected Tenerife as the ideal location to test its expansion into overseas markets.
New Outlet Details
Although the exact opening date has not been confirmed, Greggs has announced that the shop will be situated in the international departures area of the airport. It will stock a variety of bakes, rolls, sweet treats, and freshly-made sandwiches. A Spanish Omelette Roll will feature on the breakfast menu, accompanied by freshly squeezed orange juice prepared and bottled in-shop daily, offering customers a taste of island life.
Strategic Location
Tenerife South Airport welcomes approximately 13 million holidaymakers each year, with around half flying to and from the United Kingdom. Greggs believes this makes it the perfect location to provide a cost-effective meal option for travellers. The shop will include seating for up to 92 customers.

Partnership with Lagardere
The new outlet will open in partnership with Lagardere Travel Retail, which operates over 5,000 stores in airports, railway stations, and other locations across more than 50 countries. Javier Cagigal, chief executive of Lagardere Travel Retail Spain and Portugal, said: "We're delighted to partner with Greggs to bring such a well-loved brand into Tenerife South Airport for the very first time. As passengers head home, this new opening gives them a familiar, comforting choice in departures – whether that's a last treat, a relaxed sit-down moment or something to ease the journey home."
