In a stunning political reversal, former President Donald Trump has formally withdrawn his support and endorsement for Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a figure long considered one of his most loyal allies.
Trump announced his decision in a lengthy post on his Truth Social platform on Friday evening, delivering a scathing critique of the Georgia representative. He declared that Greene has transformed into a 'ranting lunatic' who has 'gone Far Left'.
The Breakdown of a Political Alliance
The public falling-out appears to stem from a combination of recent policy disagreements and personal friction. Trump revealed that he had advised Greene not to run for Senate in 2026, citing a poll that showed her at a mere 12% support without his endorsement, which he confirmed she was not going to receive.
Since that advice was given, Trump claims Greene's behaviour has been one of constant complaint. He detailed his reasons for no longer taking her calls, stating, 'With 219 Congressmen/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day.'
Policy Rifts and Public Appearances
The fissure between the two Republicans has been widening for weeks. Among the key points of contention is Greene's support for a petition to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, a move that placed her at odds with the former president.
Trump also took specific issue with Greene's recent media appearances, notably her participation on the talk show 'The View', which he described as having 'Low IQ Republican hating Anchors'. This, in his view, was further evidence of her shift away from core conservative values.
Looking ahead, Trump explicitly encouraged a primary challenge against Greene for her Georgia congressional seat in 2026. He stated that he understands 'wonderful, Conservative people are thinking about primarying Marjorie in her District of Georgia' and promised his 'Complete and Unyielding Support' for the right candidate.
As of now, Marjorie Taylor Greene has not issued a public response to these extraordinary allegations from her former champion. The Daily Mail has contacted her office for comment.
