The New York Jets are reportedly set to sign kicker Younghoe Koo, following a disastrous two-point conversion attempt by the New York Giants in their Monday Night Football loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Giants' 26-18 defeat was marked by quarterback Daniel Jones' furious meltdown after the failed play, which kept the team from closing an eight-point deficit with 11 minutes remaining.
Jones, who completed 24 of 38 passes for 264 yards and an interception, was seen yelling toward his sideline and swinging his arms before ripping off his helmet. Head coach Brian Daboll also screamed in frustration after the blunder. The Giants have now lost three straight games, falling to a 2-6 record.
Kicker Greg Joseph accounted for 12 of New York's points, while Tyrone Tracy Jr. rushed for their lone touchdown. However, the team's struggles continued as Jones was intercepted by Beanie Bishop Jr. with 34 seconds left, sealing the defeat. Jones now holds a 1-15 record in primetime games, the worst win percentage among quarterbacks in nationally televised games since 1970.
Meanwhile, the Jets are moving to bolster their special teams by signing Koo, who has been a reliable kicker for the Atlanta Falcons. The move comes as the Jets look to improve their kicking game following inconsistent performances. Koo's signing is expected to be announced later this week.
