Armed Police and Fire Crews Respond to Salford Incident

Armed police and fire crews have sealed off a section of Loganberry Avenue in Salford following reports of a suspected hazardous substance on Wednesday evening (27 May).

Emergency Response

At around 9pm, authorities cordoned off a part of Loganberry Avenue near the shopping precinct. Firefighters assessed a black vehicle at the scene, with footage on Snapchat showing multiple emergency vehicles present.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) stated: "At around 9pm this evening, fire crews were called to reports of a suspected hazardous substance on Hankinson Way in Salford."

"Two fire engines from Salford quickly attended the scene and worked alongside Greater Manchester Police to safely assess and control the substance. Crews were in attendance for around 45 minutes before handing the incident over to the Police."

Ongoing Investigation

The substance was assessed and controlled by firefighters, but further details have not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a full statement.
