Kimmel Blasts Trump's Hypocrisy Over Age Jokes

Late-night hosts took aim at Donald Trump and King Charles's state visit, with Jimmy Kimmel highlighting the absurdity of Trump demanding his firing over a joke about old age, only to make a similar joke himself.

Kimmel on Trump's Hypocrisy

On Tuesday's show, Jimmy Kimmel called it "another weird day," noting the nonsense alongside serious events. King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived for a rare state visit, but Washington mistakenly lined streets with Australian flags instead of Union Jacks. "Somehow, they screw everything up," Kimmel joked.

Trump welcomed the royals with prepared remarks, mentioning his mother and then quipping to Melania about their marriage not matching his parents' 63 years. "Did he just make a joke about his death? My God. You should be fired for that," Kimmel said, referencing Trump's earlier call for his firing over a joke about Melania. "Only Donald Trump would demand I be fired for making a joke about his old age, and then a day later go out and make a joke about his own old age."

Kimmel also criticized the Justice Department for charging former FBI director Jim Comey over an Instagram post of seashells spelling "86 47," calling it "a piece of art your aunt with a beach house would buy on Etsy."

The Daily Show on Ballroom Funding

On The Daily Show, Josh Johnson discussed the White House correspondents' dinner shooting, which injured no one. He noted Republicans using the thwarted attack to push for taxpayer funding of Trump's proposed $400m ballroom. "Four hundred million dollars?! That's our money!" Johnson fumed. "We didn't try to shoot the president!"

He mocked the administration's obsession with government waste, saying, "I can't believe they dissolved Doge right before Trump demanded a $400m ballroom. It's like how the Michael Jackson movie ended right before he starts molesting." Johnson added, "Someone tried to kill the president, so now we're going to build a ballroom!"

Seth Meyers on Royal Visit and Spotify

Seth Meyers joked about King Charles's state visit for America's 250th anniversary and "the 280th anniversary of their hands," showing photos of their aged hands. He noted Melania Trump's 56th birthday went unacknowledged by Trump on social media, though he found time to congratulate Lee Greenwood on a grandchild. "Apparently the baby is already sick of that song," Meyers said of the God Bless the USA singer.

Finally, Meyers quipped about Spotify's most-streamed album, Bad Bunny's Un Verano Sin Ti, with over 20 million streams: "If you're wondering what that translates to, about 38 cents."
