Donald Trump has been hosting high-altitude parties with celebrities and sports stars on his private plane as he campaigns for Republicans ahead of Tuesday's midterm elections. The plane, a new Qatari-donated Air Force One, has become a star-studded hangout for figures including Nicki Minaj and Mike Tyson.
Celebrity guests on board
Congressmen have enjoyed rubbing shoulders with celebrities such as Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson and Nicki Minaj in the lounge area of the plane. One guest aboard told the Daily Mail: "It's definitely a party vibe."
Legendary boxers including Floyd Mayweather Jr, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield have been seen on board the jumbo jet. Other sports stars such as NASCAR legend Richard Petty, New York Yankees president Randy Levine, former NFL coach Jon Gruden, and NFL running back Todd Gurley have also been spotted boarding Air Force One during Trump's campaign trail.
Campaign blitz and advisor comments
In an attempt to prepare for the midterm elections, Trump has held 26 rallies in just 23 days across various states he won in 2024. Despite the campaign trail, Trump's close advisors feel Republican members of Congress can only blame themselves in the event of a loss.
One of Trump's political advisors stated: "The president can only do so much. If we do fall short in the midterms, it's not because of the president's lack of trying or lack of effort."
Concerns about voter turnout
Trump has attempted to galvanise his voter base with the numerous celebrities he's linked up with during his campaign trail. But some political commentators are worried this might not translate into votes.
Former Kansas Republican governor Bill Graves has called Trump's recent rallies "the freak show at the carnival." The former governor has attacked Trump's "infatuation with his own self." Graves stated: "It's always very entertaining. But whether or not it translates into increased voter turnout on behalf of Roger Marshall … is hard to be believed."
Nuclear strike speculation
The development comes as former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has claimed that Trump may be on the verge of launching a catastrophic nuclear strike against Iran. Speculation has been mounting that Trump could escalate hostilities in the immediate aftermath of this week's midterm elections.
Senator Chris Murphy revealed he had been briefed on the plans, describing them as "devastating for our security interests." Carlson says the president is facing mounting pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to deploy a nuclear weapon, with an informed observer saying Netanyahu calls Trump about it every day.
