Archewell Foundation Rebrands as Archewell Philanthropies for 5th Anniversary
Harry and Meghan's charity renamed for 5th anniversary

The charitable organisation founded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is entering a new era with a significant name change. The Archewell Foundation will now be known as Archewell Philanthropies, a strategic rebrand that coincides with the organisation's fifth anniversary.

A New Chapter for Sussex Philanthropy

This pivotal shift comes exactly five years after Prince Harry and Meghan established their foundation in the wake of their departure from royal duties, often referred to as 'Megxit'. The couple relocated to Los Angeles in 2020 and swiftly launched the Archewell Foundation, built upon the guiding principle to 'Show up, do good'.

A spokesperson for the couple clarified the reasoning behind the rebrand, stating it "allows Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to broaden their global philanthropic efforts as a family." The aim is to achieve "meaningful reach and maximum impact" while staying true to their core values and partnerships.

Recent Initiatives and Core Mission

Over the past year, the organisation's work has focused on several key global issues. Notably, it has championed the cause of safer digital spaces and the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI). Furthermore, it has directed funds to provide critical support for children impacted by the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

The original name, Archewell, holds deep personal significance. It is derived from the ancient Greek word 'arche', meaning 'source of action', combined with 'well', symbolising a plentiful source or a place to dig deep. This foundational philosophy continues to underpin the newly named Archewell Philanthropies.

Looking Forward: Grounded in Legacy, Aiming for Greater Impact

The transition from 'Foundation' to 'Philanthropies' signals an expanded, more holistic approach to the couple's charitable ambitions. The official statement emphasises that this evolution is "grounded in the same values, partnerships, and their commitment to show up and do good."

As they mark this five-year milestone, the rebranding underscores Harry and Meghan's intent to structure their charitable work for long-term, scalable influence beyond their initial post-royal chapter. The move positions Archewell Philanthropies for a future of broader initiatives while reflecting on half a decade of advocacy and aid.
