Sir David and Victoria Beckham's net worth has been revealed as second only to Bernie Ecclestone among the world's wealthiest sportspeople. Their £1.185 billion fortune is just under half of the Formula One Group founder's £2 billion but comfortably surpasses Barry and Eddie Hearn.
Sources of Wealth
Sir David earned hundreds of millions on and off the pitch during his two-decade playing career, partnering with brands such as Adidas and H&M. These commercial deals continue several years after his retirement. Football remains a major part of his expanding business empire, as he co-owns two clubs: Inter Miami and Salford City.
His decision to retain an option from his LA Galaxy contract to buy a Major League Soccer expansion team for £18.5 million has proved hugely profitable. Eight years after co-founding Inter Miami, the club is now worth around £900 million. Around that time, he initially took a 10% stake in Salford City. Sir David led a takeover of the League Two club last summer alongside Gary Neville to buy out the rest of the Class of '92.
Brand Partnerships and Media Ventures
Football continues to feature heavily in his brand deals, including with Pepsi, and he often appears in advertising alongside current players. Additionally, he has partnerships with Hugo Boss and Stella Artois, among others. The documentary produced by Sir David's production studio about his life proved hugely successful worldwide on Netflix. They also made a docuseries about Victoria, one of several in which she has starred over the years.
Victoria Beckham's Business Ventures
The former singer first made her fortune as a member of the Spice Girls before becoming a fashion designer. She has her own fashion label, which has recently become profitable after years of rising debts and losses. Victoria also has a beauty brand, initially focusing on eye makeup before releasing a line of lip products. She has a presence in department stores across France and the United Kingdom.
Other Notable Figures on the List
The Beckhams are not the only footballing family to make it onto this latest rich list. Harry Kane sneaks into the top ten with a net worth of £110 million, tied with Sir Andy Murray. Behind the Hearns in fourth is Gymshark co-founder Ben Francis on £800 million, ahead of fellow sportswear founders Tom and Phil Beahon in sixth on £350 million. Sir Lewis Hamilton is another F1 driver to feature, with a wealth of £435 million. Rory McIlroy makes it into seventh place on £325 million, boosted by winning back-to-back Masters titles. Anthony Joshua gets the edge in eighth spot over boxing rival Tyson Fury, with his £240 million worth topping Fury's £162 million.
