Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews appear divided on whether to expand their family further, despite recently announcing they are expecting their fourth child. The couple, already parents to Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, four, shared the news last month.
Speaking to Closer magazine, Matthews hinted he would welcome a fifth child. “Vogue's Irish, you see. It won't be too long before she wants a fifth, I'm sure of it. I can't wait!” he said. However, on the Vogue and Amber podcast, Williams firmly shut down the idea. After a listener joked about saving “crazy names for baby five”, she replied: “There is no baby number five - no, no.” She added: “Even people are like, ‘Oh congrats’, looking at me like I'm a complete weirdo having a fourth child... So no, there won't be any baby number five because I don't think I'd be up for it.”
The differing comments come after Williams opened up about the toll persistent split rumours have taken on the couple. Appearing on Great Company, hosted by Matthews’ close friend Jamie Laing, she said speculation intensified while they were buying a new house and holidaying in St Barths before announcing the pregnancy. “That really upset me. I don't want my baby being born and growing up and reading something like that,” she said.
Williams also revealed she had suffered two miscarriages, one before Gigi’s birth and another last year. Reflecting on the experience, she said: “You see your body fail you, you feel on your own. You think, ‘why me, why me,’ but why not you? It happens all the time.”
