Trump Undecided on Iran Deal After Two-Hour Talks

President Donald Trump left a meeting with advisors in the Situation Room on Friday without announcing whether he would approve a deal to end the war with Iran.

No Final Decision Yet

Trump met with advisors for about two hours after stating that he was set to make a “final determination.” However, he still has not reached a decision on major next steps in the Iran war negotiations, according to The New York Times.

The White House has said it believes it is close to reaching a more durable deal, but sticking points remain, including the matter of unfreezing Iranian funds, an official told the paper.

Pakistan's Role in Mediation

Also on Friday, Pakistan’s foreign minister met with his US counterpart Marco Rubio in Washington. Official statements about the meeting gave little indication about the state of Iran talks, which Pakistan has helped broker.

“The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in the Pak-U.S. bilateral relations and exchanged views on the evolving regional and global situation,” a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

In full, the Iran-US war latest includes Trump saying that the naval blockade in Hormuz will be lifted and pledging a ‘final decision’ on the peace deal.
