The family of former TOWIE star Jake Hall have spoken out after his unconventional funeral, which combined a traditional church service with a rave-like afterparty. Hall died last month at age 35 after crashing through a glass door at his rental apartment in Majorca, Spain, following a night out with friends.
The wake, held at Unlocked Shoreditch—a venue owned by Hall's brother Sonny—spanned three floors and included a fashion installation, an art exhibition of Hall's original paintings, live performances, and a club night. Guests included TOWIE castmates, boxer Derek Chisora, the Thomas brothers, and Hall's former partner Chloe Lewis.
On behalf of the family, Sonny Hall said: 'We wanted to give Jake a send-off that matched who he was—not a quiet room, not a conventional goodbye. He lived out loud. He built things. He made people feel something.' He added that the family is continuing Hall's mission through art and a foundation.
The earlier church service at St Mary the Virgin in Wanstead saw a crowd of mourners, with a screen erected for those unable to get a seat. Among attendees were James Argent and David Beckham's mother and sister. Hall's best friend joked during the service: 'From one narcissistic mummy's boy to another, I love you forever.'
Chloe Lewis, Hall's former TOWIE girlfriend, broke her silence on social media, calling him her 'first love' and 'childhood sweetheart.' She wrote: 'A complete pain in the a**e most of the time, but always with the purest heart and the greatest soul. You touched so many lives and meant well in everything you did.'
Lewis and Hall met at age 16 and dated on and off for 10 years. She credited him with being a talented designer, noting he started his fashion brand Prevu in his parents' garage. 'Me and Mummy were always your No.1 fans,' she added.
