Schwarzenegger in talks to return to three iconic film franchises

Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed he is in talks to reprise his roles in three of his most famous film franchises: Conan the Barbarian, Commando, and Predator. The 78-year-old actor and former California governor shared the news at this year's Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Schwarzenegger confirmed that discussions are underway for a new Predator film, with director Dan Trachtenberg keen to involve him. “They did an additional Predator and the director has been doing a great job of that. Now, he wants me to be in the next Predator. We’ve talked about it,” he said. He added that Fox Studios has “rediscovered Arnold” and has approached him with a script for Commando 2.

For the Conan franchise, Schwarzenegger noted that the studio has hired a writer-director who worked on Tom Cruise’s last four films to helm King Conan. He described the plot as focusing on Conan after 40 years as king, forced out of his kingdom, leading to conflict, violence, magic, and creatures.

The actor emphasised that all three roles will be written to reflect his current age. “They don’t write them like I’m 40 years old. You write it to be age-appropriate,” he explained. “I’ll still go in there and kick some ass but it will be different.”

Schwarzenegger rose to fame in the 1980s with Conan the Barbarian (1982), The Terminator (1984), Commando (1985), and Predator (1987). He has not appeared on the big screen in over five years but is now eyeing a major Hollywood comeback.
