Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones has firmly dismissed rumours that she might appear on Strictly Come Dancing, saying no amount of money could persuade her. The 59-year-old actress, who co-created and starred in the hit BBC comedy, addressed the speculation during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.
Jones, who plays iconic character Nessa Jenkins, revealed she has been on the BBC dancing competition's wish list for years but insisted it is 'absolutely not for me'. She said: 'They would have to pay me an absolutely ridiculous amount of money – there isn’t a figure.'
The Welsh actress also addressed rumours about joining Celebrity Traitors, admitting she had been approached but preferred to watch from home. 'I love the show... but then I thought I’ll have to put on a wetsuit and I’ll have to go in one of them lochs, I’ll get bitten by the midges. I’d rather sit in my pyjamas and watch everyone else,' she explained.
Jones also revealed why viewers never saw Nessa and Smithy kiss on screen. She said she and James Corden 'couldn’t bear the thought of kissing each other', describing their relationship as 'brother and sister'. The 2024 Christmas special resolved the cliffhanger from 2019, with Smithy choosing Nessa over Sonia.
