Patsy Kensit has disclosed that she was secretly nursing a broken shoulder while filming the BBC series Pilgrimage: The Road to Holy Island. The 58-year-old actress said she fractured her shoulder in three places just months before the show and chose not to tell her co-stars to avoid complaining.
Speaking on The One Show, Kensit explained: 'I’d broken my shoulder in three places, and very recently, a few months before I did the show. I didn’t want to be complaining every day.' Her co-star Jayne Middlemiss expressed surprise, saying: 'She didn’t tell us!'
The series follows seven celebrities of different faiths on a historical pilgrimage. Kensit, who was raised Catholic, described the experience as 'moving' and said it helped her confront personal anger. 'I think I went in with a lot of anger actually about stuff that I attributed to things in my life that actually weren’t the problem,' she said.
Pilgrimage: The Road to Holy Island airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
