Paloma Faith Opens Up About Breastfeeding Struggles and Successes
Paloma Faith Shares Candid Breastfeeding Journey

British singer Paloma Faith has shared a heartfelt and candid appreciation post about breastfeeding, six months after giving birth to her son. The 44-year-old artist opened up about her varied experiences feeding her three children, describing it as a "mixed bag" that often involves emotional challenges.

A Journey Through Three Babies

Paloma Faith, who keeps her children's names private, is mother to two daughters aged nine and five, and a son born in March. In a detailed Instagram post on Wednesday, she reflected on her breastfeeding journey, admitting that with her older children, it "hurt like mad." She wrote about the pressures and difficulties she faced, emphasizing that each experience was unique.

Struggles with Her Daughters

With her first daughter, Faith persevered through seven months of painful breastfeeding, driven by stubbornness and societal pressure. Her second daughter faced coordination issues with breathing and swallowing, leading to screaming at the breast. Faith exclusively pumped for three months before stopping, which she found liberating as it allowed her to focus on loving her child without the stress.

Easier Experience with Her Son

In contrast, Faith's son latched immediately and knew what to do, though she still dealt with sore nipples and moments of tears. She has adopted a relaxed approach this time, taking fenugreek to maintain her milk supply, feeding every four hours, and pumping twice daily. She also gives him some formula daily to ensure he doesn't reject it in emergencies, citing her need for a "belt and braces approach" with two other kids.

Embracing Imperfection and Support

Faith highlighted that she is not "bouncing back" quickly postpartum, prioritizing her milk production and well-being. She called for more understanding among mothers, stating, "Let's give ourselves and each other a break because something ALWAYS gives whatever you decide to do." She thanked a parenting account for advice on feeding and pain management.

Visuals and Personal Life

Alongside her post, Faith shared photos of herself breastfeeding, using a pump, enjoying breakfast in bed with pumped milk, and a close-up of her breasts. She shares her daughters with former partner Leyman Lahcine and her son with Stevie Thomas, with their relationship confirmed in 2025.

Faith's message resonates with many parents, offering a raw look at the realities of breastfeeding and encouraging empathy in the parenting community.
