Olly Murs on Fatherhood: 'It Puts Things Into Perspective'

Olly Murs has admitted that becoming a father has given him a new perspective on life. The singer, 41, shares two children with his wife, personal trainer Amelia Tank, whom he married in 2023. The couple welcomed daughter Madison in April 2024 and a son, Albert, in September last year.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, the 'Dear Darling' hitmaker said: 'When you become a dad yourself, it really puts things into perspective even more.' He vowed to be more present for his wife and children this year, adding: 'This year is just being a present father, a present husband and being there for my wife and kids but just enjoying a break.'

Olly reflected on his career, noting that he records everything so his children can look back and understand the magnitude of his work. He joked that due to his schedule, he wasn't sure how he had managed to 'keep his wife' over the last three years.

The singer, who first found fame in 2009 on The X Factor, said he remains humble and grateful. He recalled driving past the recruitment agency he once worked at and feeling emotional about how far he has come. 'I don't ever want to go back to that,' he said, noting the unpredictability of the music industry.

This year, his daughter Maddi will watch him play in Soccer Aid at the London Stadium, something he is 'proud' of. 'To see Maddi watch her dad play a bit of football at West Ham, that would be pretty cool,' he said.
