Nicole Kidman Hospitalized After Filming Through Severe Illness
Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman was rushed to hospital after powering through filming for her new Apple TV+ series Margo's Got Money Troubles while battling a severe case of influenza. The dramatic incident occurred during production of the streaming series, with Kidman's co-star Nick Offerman providing a detailed account of the "astonishing" events.
Co-Star Recalls Dramatic On-Set Incident
During an interview with People magazine, Offerman, 55, described the concerning situation that unfolded while filming a major scene for the series. The scene featured what Offerman called a "huge set piece" involving hundreds of extras, with Kidman's character Lace—a former professional wrestler turned lawyer—reuniting with Offerman's character Jinx in a wrestling ring at a fan convention.
"We're there in the morning, we're getting warmed up—some of us are going to be performing some actual wrestling, and so we have our doubles, we have people we're working with," Offerman explained to the publication. However, the production faced a significant setback when news arrived that Kidman had contracted influenza.
Production Uncertainty and Kidman's Determination
"And the word comes in that Nicole has the flu, and we might not get Nicole today," Offerman recalled. "And we're like, 'Oh no, that's such a bummer, because we only have the one day that we've built this whole circus for.'" The concerning news arrived around 8:00 a.m., creating uncertainty about whether the crucial scene could be completed as scheduled.
Remarkably, by 11:00 a.m., the production received word that Kidman would indeed be arriving on set. When she appeared, Offerman immediately noticed her compromised condition. "She looked so pale, shaken," he observed. "She just had the flu really so bad." Despite her visibly poor health, Kidman demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the production.
Professional Dedication and Hospitalization
"She showed up and made sure that we got every shot of her," Offerman emphasized. "Total superhero style. She did everything we needed to so that we did not lose one scrap of what we needed for her character." The actress completed all required filming despite her debilitating illness.
Once shooting concluded for the day, Kidman was "literally taken to the hospital for an IV" to receive medical treatment and rehydration. Offerman expressed profound admiration for her dedication, stating: "And I just said to her, I already admired you so much, but this is how you get to be Nicole Kidman, is you show up so that your show doesn't lose a minute of your value. It was so generous. It was astonishing."
