Monty Don, the beloved horticulturist, will make his debut as guest host on the BBC panel show Have I Got News For You in an episode airing tonight. The 70-year-old takes the helm alongside regulars Ian Hislop and Paul Merton, with guest panellists Chris McCausland and Helen Lewis.
In a preview clip, Don takes aim at rival Alan Titchmarsh while discussing David Beckham's collaboration with King Charles on a garden for the Chelsea Flower Show. The panel also jokes about Beckham's strained family relations and the Artemis II mission, which saw astronauts travel farther from Earth than any humans before them.
The show shifts to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, with Don noting that President Trump paused hostilities after failing to achieve war goals. Helen Lewis remarks that Iran effectively won, while Chris McCausland quips about the irony of astronauts landing in Iran. Ian Hislop adds dry humour about the lack of achieved objectives.
This episode marks the 13th appearance for Helen Lewis and the eighth for Chris McCausland, who won Strictly Come Dancing in 2024. The show continues its tradition of rotating guest hosts, a format adopted in 2002.
