Mick Fleetwood Celebrates Fifth Marriage at 78 with Honeymoon in Tahiti
The legendary Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood is once again in the spotlight for his personal life, having recently tied the knot for the fifth time at the age of 78. Fleetwood has been sharing idyllic photos from his honeymoon in Tahiti with his new wife, Elizabeth Jordan, on Instagram, captioning one post: "The South Pacific does its magic!!! A honeymoon with my love Elizabeth… creating moments to be remembered!! Sun health and happiness!!"
Jordan, who is 56 years old and thus over two decades younger than Fleetwood, is the latest to be captivated by the 6'5" musician. Fleetwood Mac, of course, is a band notorious for the turbulent love affairs among its members, which often fueled their chart-topping albums. Fleetwood himself has now been married five times to four different women, embodying this chaotic romantic legacy.
A Journey Through Fleetwood's Romantic Past
Fleetwood's first marriage was to model Jenny Boyd in June 1970. The couple had met as 16-year-old school children in London's Notting Hill in 1963, though Boyd was initially dating Roger Waters of Pink Floyd at the time. After reconnecting years later, they married when Boyd was pregnant with their first daughter, Amy, and later had a second child, Lucy. However, in 1973, during Fleetwood Mac's "Mystery to Me" tour, Fleetwood discovered Boyd was having an affair with the band's guitarist, Bob Weston. Fleetwood fired Weston and cancelled the tour, leading to their divorce in 1976. They briefly remarried to help their daughters emigrate to the United States before splitting for good in 1978, after Fleetwood's own affair with bandmate Stevie Nicks came to light.
Stevie Nicks and the "Perfect Fantasy" Affair
Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, and as their relationship deteriorated, Fleetwood and Nicks began a passionate affair. In his 2014 memoir Play On, Fleetwood described it as "chaotic, it was on the road, and it was a crazy love affair that went on longer than any of us really remember — probably several years by the end of it." He added that it was "the perfect fantasy" and that they were "each other's perfect playmates." The affair ended when Fleetwood started another relationship with Sara Recor, the wife of a music manager and Nicks' best friend.
Marriages to Sara Recor and Lynn Frankel
Fleetwood met Sara Recor through Nicks while Recor was still married. She left her husband in November 1978 and moved in with Fleetwood, inspiring Nicks to write the hit song "Sara" from the 1979 album Tusk. Nicks has revealed that Fleetwood is the "great dark wing" referenced in the lyrics. Fleetwood and Recor married in Malibu in 1988 but divorced in 1995.
That same year, Fleetwood married PR executive Lynn Frankel, whom he had met through her father, who handled Fleetwood Mac's finances. This marriage proved to be his longest, lasting two decades. The couple had twin daughters, Tessa and Ruby, in 2002, but filed for divorce in 2013, citing "irreconcilable differences," with the divorce finalized in 2015.
Elizabeth Jordan: The Latest Chapter
Fleetwood's fourth wife, Elizabeth Jordan, is a former New York school teacher and mother of two from a previous relationship. The couple reportedly met in 2020 and have since appeared together on red carpets, including at the Grammys in February 2023. Fleetwood's friend Mike Lawson announced their engagement in March last year, stating on social media: "Mick Fleetwood just texted and said he is marrying his girlfriend of five years, Elizabeth. How cool, finding love and making that commitment is beautiful. Congrats!" Jordan is also a co-director of Fleetwood's youth music charity, The Mick Fleetwood Foundation, and enjoys activities like skiing, surfing, and traveling.
As Fleetwood embarks on this new marital journey, his romantic history remains a testament to the tumultuous and passionate dynamics that have long defined Fleetwood Mac's legacy.
