Madonna's Confessions II Album & Biopic: New Music & Film Details
It appears that Madonna's highly anticipated new album, 'Confessions On A Dancefloor II', is imminent. The Queen of Pop has wiped her entire Instagram grid and rebranded her official website, fueling intense speculation that fresh music is on the horizon. The website now flashes the phrases 'Confessions II' and 'COADE 2', accompanied by an image of a speaker positioned between a pair of legs adorned in silver heels, with ethereal music playing in the background.
Album Development and Hints
Madonna has been hinting at a follow-up to her iconic 2005 album for over a year. In February 2025, she revealed she was 'putting my heart and soul into my new music'. By September, she resumed collaboration with Warner Records, expressing excitement about the future and music creation. She teased 'Confessions 2' with the statement: 'Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began! COADF – P. 2 2026.'
The original Confessions album masterfully blended 70s disco and 80s electropop, featuring hits like 'Hung Up', 'Sorry', 'Get Together', and 'Jump'. For the sequel, Madonna is reuniting with producer Stuart Price, who was instrumental in the first album's success. This release marks her first since Madame X in 2019. Reflecting on fame in an interview with NME, Madonna highlighted the privilege of having a voice to advocate for others and share resources.
Biopic Casting and Production
In addition to the album, fans can anticipate a biopic starring Julia Garner, known for her role in Ozark, as Madonna. Garner secured the coveted lead role over contenders like Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, and Odessa Young. The film, set up at Universal Pictures, will chronicle Madonna's early career. Madonna plans to direct the biopic from a script co-written by Diablo Cody, announced in 2020.
In a statement, Madonna emphasized her desire to convey her life's journey as an artist and human being, sharing untold and inspiring stories with her unique voice and vision. Fans enthusiastically endorsed the casting choice on social media, praising Garner's acting skills, dance experience, and versatility with accents, calling it a perfect fit for the role.
