In a powerful and emotional address from his besieged capital, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has issued a desperate plea to Western nations, warning that Ukraine is engaged in a brutal fight for survival against Russian aggression.
The former world heavyweight boxing champion, who transitioned from sporting icon to political leader, revealed the devastating human cost the conflict has inflicted on the historic city he governs. "We are fighting for our lives. We are fighting for our future. We are fighting for our very existence," Klitschko declared in an exclusive interview.
From Boxing Ring to Battlefield
Klitschko, who dominated the boxing world alongside his brother Wladimir before entering politics, now faces his greatest challenge yet. The man once known for his formidable presence in the ring described how his city has been transformed into a war zone, with residential areas, schools, and hospitals deliberately targeted by Russian forces.
"Before February 24th, we were building a European capital," Klitschko reflected. "Now we are defending it street by street, building by building."
