Kim Kardashian Joins Broadway Play After Coachella Weekend with Hamilton
Kim Kardashian Joins Broadway Play After Coachella

Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, British racing driver Lewis Hamilton, were seen departing Palm Springs International Airport on Monday aboard a private jet. The couple was accompanied by Kardashian's eldest child, twelve-year-old daughter North West, following their attendance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival over the weekend.

Coachella Appearances and Family Time

The forty-five-year-old reality television star, who has been divorced three times, and the forty-one-year-old Formula One champion were observed in the VIP section during the sold-out desert festival. On Saturday, they watched Justin Bieber's headlining performance while wearing face coverings. Kardashian and Hamilton, who have been friends for more than ten years, first publicly appeared as a couple at Super Bowl LX on February 8.

Meanwhile, North West, the daughter of Kardashian and rapper Kanye 'Ye' West, spent her Coachella weekend actively engaged on social media. The pre-teen, often described as a nepotism baby, posted at least twenty-four TikTok videos alongside a friend, both sporting dramatic wigs.

Broadway Venture Announced

On Monday, Kardashian, who stars in and produces the Hulu series The Kardashians, revealed she is officially joining the producing team for the Broadway play The Fear of 13. The production stars acclaimed actors Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson.

Playwright Lindsey Ferrentino wrote the new drama, which is based on two sources: ex-convict Nick Yarris's 2008 memoir Seven Days to Live and David Sington's 2015 documentary, also titled The Fear of 13. Yarris, now a sixty-four-year-old public speaker, spent twenty-two years on death row for a rape and murder he did not commit. He was exonerated by DNA testing in 2003 and later received a $4 million settlement in 2008.

Kardashian's Personal Statement

Kardashian, who boasts over 515 million social media followers, shared her thoughts on the project via an Instagram story. "Theatre has a unique power to move us," she stated. "When you experience a story like this live, it stays with you. It challenges you to see the human being behind the statistic. My hope is that this production sparks a real conversation about the true meaning of justice."

The Skims chief creative officer continued, emphasizing her long-standing commitment: "For the past decade, criminal justice reform has been a deeply personal mission of mine. I've seen firsthand how the system can fail, and I've committed myself to fighting for those who have been silenced."

A Legal Aspiration Deferred

Kardashian has often expressed a desire to follow in the footsteps of her late father, Robert Kardashian, who was part of O.J. Simpson's "dream team" of defense attorneys during the 1995 murder trial. However, her path to becoming an attorney hit a significant obstacle. The aspiring lawyer, who has publicly questioned the authenticity of the 1969 Moon landing, discovered on November 7 that she failed the State Bar of California exam. Her score fell short of the required minimum of 1,390 points out of 2,000.

Production Details and Awards Potential

Her involvement in The Fear of 13 is described as a promotional and financial role, rather than a creative one. Despite this, it makes her eligible for a potential Tony Award should the play be nominated for best play. The production was already fully produced and premiered at London's Donmar Warehouse on the West End in 2024. It has been in previews on Broadway since March 19.

The Calabasas-based socialite is expected to attend the official opening night festivities this Wednesday at the James Earl Jones Theatre in Midtown Manhattan. Director David Cromer's acclaimed play is scheduled to run through July 12.

A Busy Production Slate

This Broadway project adds to Kardashian's extensive portfolio of entertainment ventures. Her other executive producing credits include:

  • An untitled Tracy Oliver comedy series at Hulu, co-produced with La La Anthony.
  • The Hulu reality pilot Calabasas Behind the Gates.
  • Amazon's live-action Bratz film.
  • An Amazon thriller written by Natalie Krinsky.

Additionally, through her company Update, she has signed on to produce the Paramount+ reality series Team Moms. This show follows the world of nationally competitive youth baseball via the Legendary Prep Academy in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Upcoming Acting and Reality Roles

Kardashian recently completed filming for a role in Eva Longoria's upcoming Netflix ensemble comedy The Fifth Wheel. She portrays a "hot outsider" in a story about a Las Vegas weekend reunion for high school best friends. The cast also includes Will Ferrell, Nikki Glaser, Brenda Song, Fortune Feimster, and Jack Whitehall.

Simultaneously, she is producing and starring in the eighth season of her family's Hulu reality spin-off, The Kardashians. In the near future, she will begin executive producing and reprising her role as divorce attorney Allura Grant in the second season of Ryan Murphy's legal drama All's Fair, despite the show's poor critical reception.
