The trailer for HBO's upcoming adaptation of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' has become the most-watched in the network's history, amassing 277 million organic views across platforms within 48 hours. This figure more than doubles the previous record held by HBO and HBO Max.
The series, based on J.K. Rowling's fantasy books, is scheduled to debut on Christmas 2026. It stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
The show is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes. It is produced in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television, with Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman serving as executive producers.
