FIFA Unveils Star-Studded Halftime Show for World Cup Final

FIFA has announced that the World Cup final will feature a star-studded halftime show headlined by Madonna, Shakira, and the globally renowned boy-band BTS. This marks the first time the final, scheduled for July 19 at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, will include a Super Bowl-style concert.

Supporting Global Education

The governing body stated that the show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to help children access education and soccer. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasised the significance of the event, saying it would bring together "music and football on the biggest stage in sport for a very special cause." He added, "Every child should have the opportunity to dream, and together we can help make that possible," in a post on Instagram.

Curated by Chris Martin

The halftime show will be curated by Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin. The Super Bowl is renowned for its halftime performances, attracting the world's biggest stars. This year featured Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny, while past headliners have included Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, and Rihanna.

A New Tradition in Soccer

Halftime shows are not yet commonplace in soccer, with events like the Champions League final typically featuring a pre-match concert. This year, the Killers will headline the European club soccer's biggest game between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal in Budapest. FIFA describes its halftime show as "a singular moment at the intersection of sport, culture and purpose, broadcast live around the world."

This year's World Cup is co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico and will run through June and July.
