Coronation Street actress Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie Winter on the iconic soap, has bravely opened up about her wife's devastating miscarriage, offering a deeply personal insight into their journey.
In an emotional interview, Hazlegrove revealed how she and her wife, Nicola, faced the heartbreaking loss of their unborn child. The couple, who have been together for over a decade, had been overjoyed at the prospect of becoming parents before tragedy struck.
A Painful Chapter
"It was the most difficult time of our lives," Hazlegrove admitted. "We were so excited, and then suddenly, everything changed. The grief was overwhelming."
The actress praised her wife's strength during the ordeal, describing how they leaned on each other for support. "Nicola was incredible—she carried so much of that pain, and yet she still found ways to be there for me too."
Breaking the Silence
Hazlegrove hopes that by sharing their story, she can help others who have experienced similar losses. "Miscarriage is still such a taboo subject, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. People don’t talk about it enough, and that isolation makes the pain even worse."
The couple have since found solace in their close-knit circle of friends and family, as well as through therapy. "Talking about it—really talking—has been healing," she said.
