Clive Owen has admitted he is 'quite worried' about an upcoming ferry crossing to Ireland with his sons Sid and Miles, as a storm is forecast to hit the Irish Sea. The farmer, who shot to fame on 'Our Yorkshire Farm', is taking the boys on their first overseas trip to attend the All Nations Shearing Championships in Donegal.
In the latest episode of 'Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales', Clive tells his eldest son Reuben about his concerns: 'Tomorrow, there's a big storm passing through so I'm quite worried about the crossing, how rough it will be. Whether we're ill or anything, I would not like that to happen but we shall see.'
The journey marks a milestone for the Owen family, as neither Sid nor Miles have ever been abroad before. Miles admitted he had heard rumours about the weather, saying: 'Yeah, they reckon it will be a bit stormy.' Reuben jokingly warned his brothers: 'Hope you don't get sea sick.'
Clive, who turned 70 earlier this year, reflected on his journey from a schoolboy dreaming of sheep sales to breeding a champion ram named Glory, which sold for £28,000. He said: 'I used to skive off school and go and watch these famous sales and dream that maybe one day it might be me. For me, to eventually breed a Champion myself, that's pretty amazing.'
The farmer also spoke about the responsibility of judging sheep: 'Fellas that go and judge like myself, know how hard it is to breed these things. So I see it as a great responsibility and a great honour to judge. It's a tough thing to do because you don't make everybody happy when you judge sheep.'
