Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty has been accused of snubbing his grandmother on her 84th birthday, as a family feud continues to deepen. The athlete reportedly failed to wish his maternal grandmother, Mavis, a happy birthday this week, despite sending birthday wishes to his wife Holly's brother Oscar just days earlier.
A source told the Mail: 'There was no card, present, text from Adam wishing his nan happy birthday - absolutely nothing. He can post a happy birthday to Holly's brother Oscar five days ago but not his own nan. It is shameful really.' The source added: 'How could he ignore his 84-year-old nan who has only ever loved and supported him. She is quite bewildered by it.'
The snub comes amid a reported rift between Peaty and his mother Caroline, who previously claimed her son was 'in Gordon's clutches' – a reference to his father-in-law, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay recently revealed that Peaty calls him 'dad', saying: 'He messaged me and said 'Hey dad, what have you got? Hey dad, are you around later?''
Peaty's sister Bethany, the only family member to attend his wedding, said she is 'caught in the middle' of the feud but has made amends with their mother for the sake of her children. Caroline earlier expressed heartbreak over the estrangement, saying: 'I was crying all the way home... I felt I didn't want to live. That's how low this has made me.'
