Ukraine Deploys British Storm Shadow Missiles in Major Offensive Against Russian Targets
Ukrainian warplanes have unleashed a barrage of British-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles in some of the most devastating strikes of the four-year conflict with Russia. According to Russian sources, the attacks targeted critical military infrastructure, including a factory producing advanced components for ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons.
Strategic Plant Hit in Bryansk Region
The Silicon El plant in the Bryansk border region, which manufactures electrical components for Vladimir Putin's Iskander ballistic missiles, air defence systems, and submarine-launched nuclear missiles, was struck by multiple Storm Shadow missiles. Footage shows a cruise missile slamming into the factory and setting it ablaze, with reports indicating as many as seven British-made missiles may have hit the facility. Ukrainian forces are also believed to have used domestically-produced Neptune missiles in the assault.
Ambulances rushed to the scene following the strike, with six people reported killed and thirty-seven injured in the aftermath. The attack has drawn sharp criticism from Russian military analysts, who expressed horror at the clinical precision of the strikes and complained that it made the Kremlin leadership appear impotent.
Ukrainian Leadership Celebrates Successful Operation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was personally informed of the successful strikes by his commander-in-chief, General Oleksandr Syrskyi. Syrsky told me the operation was successful—a Bryansk plant that manufactured control systems for all types of Russian missiles was hit, Zelensky stated. Well, I can only congratulate them. Our armed forces are doing a great job.
The military Welders Telegram channel, among other pro-Russian outlets, expressed outrage over the attacks, noting that they occurred while global attention was focused on the Middle East conflict. It was a blow to our image, the channel complained. The goal of the Ukrainian-British provocation is to expose the Russian leadership as impotent. The picture shows how densely Western missiles can fall on Russian cities—where was our air defence?!
Additional Targets Struck Across Russia
The offensive extended beyond the Bryansk plant, with multiple explosions reported at the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant in the Samara region, a crucial facility for producing explosives for the Russian armed forces. Explosions also hit two Black Sea resorts—Sochi and Anapa—while in occupied Mariupol, an ammunition storage depot was ignited, causing secondary explosions heard for miles around.
Ukrainian forces reportedly struck Sevastopol, the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, adding to the series of coordinated attacks. Meanwhile, there was further gloom for Putin as reports emerged that Ukraine has almost completely regained control of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region, a city that Russian forces had repeatedly boasted about capturing.
Russian Forces Face Setbacks and Communication Issues
A pro-war Telegram outlet admitted that Kupyansk is practically completely lost, with the city surrounded and only small groups of reinforcement attempting to break out. The collapse of Russian defences was attributed to the disconnection of Starlink satellite internet systems, owned by Elon Musk, who blocked their use by Russian forces. The fate of Kupyansk was sealed after this disruption, the outlet stated.
In a retaliatory strike, Russian forces hit Kharkiv, killing two people and injuring five, according to local authorities. The exchange of attacks underscores the intensifying nature of the conflict, with Western-supplied weaponry playing a pivotal role in Ukraine's latest offensive.
