UK's Loneliest Dog Unwanted for Two Years Due to Grey Muzzle
UK's Loneliest Dog Unwanted for Two Years

A beagle named Milo has been dubbed one of Britain's loneliest dogs after spending more than 850 days in an animal shelter, largely because his grey muzzle makes him appear older than his five years.

Milo's Long Stay at Dogs Trust Evesham

Milo was abandoned by his previous owner as a puppy and has been at the Dogs Trust Evesham in Worcestershire since 2023. Despite numerous potential adopters visiting, he has yet to find a permanent home. Shelter manager Chris Slight explained that Milo's 'hang dog' expression has deterred many.

"Milo is such a lovely boy, and while he hasn't had much interest yet, we know the right home is out there for him," Slight said. "Although he's only five years old, he is quite grey around the face, which can make him appear older and sadly means he may be overlooked."

Progress and Challenges

When Milo first arrived, he was protective over food and toys, but he has made significant progress through resource guarding training. However, he still requires owners who understand his needs and are willing to continue his management, including providing a separate room for him while eating.

Milo also suffers from sore hips and takes medication for comfort. He previously struggled with being left alone, so he needs a family that can be around most of the time initially.

A Hopeful Future

Despite these challenges, Slight describes Milo as an incredibly special dog with much love to give. "Milo is such a character, and brings so much joy to everyone he meets. With the right active home and a little patience, he'll make a wonderfully loyal and fun companion."

The team at Dogs Trust Evesham is hopeful that Milo will soon meet the right adopters and finally leave the shelter after more than two years.
