Sacha Morey, 34, from Brighton, suffered stomach issues for 20 years before an at-home intolerance test identified the cause. Cutting certain foods from her diet has since resolved her chronic bloating, excessive sweating, painful acne and unexplained lethargy.
The HR and operations manager first noticed stomach problems when she was 11 years old. She regularly visited her GP and hospitals, undergoing numerous blood tests and food diaries, but symptoms persisted. She avoided tight clothes and felt self-conscious in the gym.
Years of Tests and Unanswered Questions
“It would just blow up like a big football, and I'd always get this excruciating pain under my ribs. I just dismissed it and got on with it, and used to suffer with pain and sweating, with my stomach pushing out under my bra,” she said.
“I've always been sporty and athletic, but I also loved shopping for nice clothes. I’d buy the clothes and think my stomach was something I could work off in the gym. However, it made me so self-conscious.”
As she reached her 30s, doctors tested her for thyroid and hormone problems, including checks for perimenopause, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis and coeliac disease. “I was thinking, ‘Am I going to be able to have children? Is there something wrong with me?’ I was only 33 at the time, still young, and it made me feel like I've got a clock ticking and I’d have to rush to have a child,” she said.
The Test That Found the Answer
The solution came from an intolerance test from Supply Life. The at-home blood test measures IgG antibody responses to identify potential food sensitivities. Users send a finger-prick blood sample to a lab, where it is analysed against a panel of common foods.
“I decided to look into it myself. I found Supply Life and I felt like this was where I was going to get some answers. I actually had some hope. It came back saying I’m intolerant to cow's milk, goat's milk, sheep's milk, egg whites and, randomly, peas and broad beans,” she said.
“I cut it all out for just one week and I had complete withdrawal symptoms: tired, headachy, like when you give up coffee or chocolate. You can honestly feel your body adjusting, and I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. My body felt completely different.”
Life After the Diet Change
Sacha took the test a year ago. After making simple changes to her diet, she no longer lives with painful bloating or any other symptoms.
“The effects have been huge. I can honestly say my skin is better, I no longer have the acne on my face, and I feel so much more confident. I no longer have the huge swollen tummy, and I haven’t had any night sweats,” she explained.
“When I say night sweats, my sheets used to be wringing wet. But I just don't have any of those symptoms anymore. I, of course, now know that if I was to eat something with one of those intolerances in it, I know straight away because my body reacts. But I've got energy, I'm not tired or lethargic. It’s great.”
“I’ve told so many people about this test as I don’t want people going through what I went through, struggling with painful and uncomfortable symptoms and waiting for so long to find the solution.”
