Myleene Klass has called on her fans to give blood after sharing a video that documents the donation process. The 48-year-old radio presenter took to Instagram on Saturday to post an informative clip outlining the steps involved in donating blood.
The video begins with footage of her arriving at an NHS blood donor centre before showing her seated in a chair while a staff member cleans her arm and inserts a needle to collect the donation. After completing the process, Myleene is seen enjoying a custard cream biscuit.
Alongside the post, Myleene wrote: 'A pint of the good stuff. The pay off: I lost my fake tan but I got a packet of custard creams afterwards.' She added: 'Putting this on grid as there's a lot of questions in my stories about giving blood I can't answer so hopefully @givebloodnhs can help.'
She then addressed common queries: 'What I can help with is… Does it hurt? No. How long does it take? 6.5 minutes!!!!! (the paperwork and preliminary tests took longer). Do you have to rest afterwards? I went straight to school pick up, the polling stations then the red/black carpet… spot the injection site.'
Explaining her motivation, she said: 'Why do you do it? I feel lucky in my life so paying it forward, I know people who've needed blood and it could be my kids one day relying on the help of strangers, 1 pint helps save 3 people, because they give you a packet of custard creams afterwards.'
The post comes after Myleene recently revealed the truth behind her braless look at the Classic FM Live event at the Royal Albert Hall. She shared that she used breast tape after fans thought her look was 'defying the laws of gravity and age.' She responded to a fan: 'I have breastfed three children, been pregnant seven times and am forty six. I'm absolutely taping the girls up.'
Earlier, Myleene opened up about fat-shaming and drug use among pop stars in the 90s during an appearance on ITV's Loose Women. She reflected on her time in Hear'Say, the band formed on ITV show Popstars in 2001. The band split in 2002 after less than two years, citing 'abuse from the public' as the primary reason.
