Mel B Opens Up About 'Scary' Menopause Symptoms and Bedroom Solution

Mel B, the 50-year-old Spice Girls star, has spoken candidly about her experience with menopause, describing the symptoms as 'scary'. The singer, who is the new global face of Revive Collagen, admitted she experienced anxiety and hot sweats that led her to consider visiting her GP.

Speaking at a London event, she revealed confusion about the changes, saying she thought 'something is a bit wrong with me'. The situation also affected bedtime with her husband, Rory McPhee, 37, as she would sweat profusely while he felt cold.

The couple purchased an Eight Sleep mattress, costing around £3,000, which allows each side to be set to a different temperature. Mel explained, 'I like a freezing bedroom and I was getting hot sweats at night. My side of the bed is really cold.'

Mel said she has renamed menopause 'Mel-opause' and emphasised that women must realise the changes are not their fault. She added, 'A billion women go through menopause worldwide every single year. It can happen at 35, it can happen at 50 and it can happen for 10 years, so what you are going through can be quite scary.'

Despite 'misinformation' surrounding the topic, Mel believes it is positive that people are talking about it more. Her comments follow a surprise performance of Spice Up Your Life with former bandmate Melanie C, where they last performed together in 2019.
