Good Morning Britain's Laura Tobin received a heartfelt congratulations from her co-stars during Thursday's (May 4) episode of the ITV programme. Hosts Susanna Reid and Paul Brand returned to screens to deliver the latest news, while Andi Peters presented the competition segment and Laura provided the day's weather forecast.
Not long into the show, Susanna Reid interrupted the proceedings to celebrate Laura's remarkable achievement. She announced: “We haven’t just got our usual weather presenter in, we’ve got a weather presenter who is exceptionally good at explaining the weather to our viewers. In fact, you’re so good Laura that you have now received another award.”
Susanna explained that Laura had been awarded the Michael Hunt Award for public understanding of meteorology and its applications by the Royal Meteorological Society. Laura blushed as she replied: “Thank you so much.”
Moments later, Andi Peters also shared his support. After promoting the latest competition, he turned his attention to his co-star and said: “Now talking of winning.” He continued: “Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to celebrate the fact that the Royal Meteorological Society yesterday awarded a certificate in a frame for Laura Tobin. It was for increasing the understanding of meteorology, for a non-scientific audience.” Andi joked about his own lack of scientific background, saying he got a B in chemistry, but congratulated Laura warmly.
Laura replied with a smile: “Thank you.” She then explained: “It’s basically that I had to explain meteorology to you every single day. That’s what the awards are for, Andi.”
