Kerry Washington has given fans a glimpse into the rigorous routine that maintains her incredibly fit figure, while also prompting widespread praise for her seemingly timeless appearance.
Pilates Proves No Easy Feat for the Star
On Tuesday morning, the 48-year-old actress, famed for her role in Scandal, took to Instagram to post a video from a Pilates reformer session. In the clip, Washington is seen performing a series of challenging exercises under the guidance of her trainer, showcasing her toned physique in a matching sports bra and skintight shorts.
The video was set to a comical audio clip from rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who declared "Pilates is not for the motherf***ing weak." The audio, taken from one of the musician's own past fitness posts, also featured her noting how her legs were shaking during the workout, a sentiment many viewers could relate to.
Fans React with Awe and Amusement
The social media post sparked a flood of reactions in the comments section. While many shared their own experiences of how difficult they found Pilates, the overwhelming response was admiration for Washington's youthful beauty and enviable fitness.
One Instagram user hailed her as their "favorite ageless human," while another agreed, stating they believed the actress was "aging backwards" and had initially mistaken her for a teenager. "Looks like 18 years old," wrote one fan, while another commented they thought they were watching a "child" in the video. Others simply praised her as being "fit as a frickin' fiddle" and looking "mighty fine."
A Decade-Long Dedication to Wellness
This insight into Washington's fitness regimen is not a new development. Her trainer, Juliet Kaska, revealed to People magazine back in 2020 that the actress works out approximately five times a week and has been dedicated to Pilates for over a decade.
Kaska explained that Washington started Pilates seriously after the birth of her daughter, Isabelle, in 2014. "There's something very soothing about the machinery," Kaska said, noting that Pilates combines breath work with a mind-body focus, similar to yoga. Washington's holistic approach also incorporates cross-training and meditation to manage her hectic schedule.
"She's someone who is very spiritually based, so we definitely do breathing work, and we incorporate all of it all the time," her trainer added.
The impressive results of her disciplined routine were on full display just days before the workout video, when Washington attended the premiere for the Knives Out sequel, Wake Up Dead Man, in a glamorous gown.
Fans can next see Kerry Washington in the upcoming Apple TV+ psychological thriller series Imperfect Women, where she stars opposite Elisabeth Moss and serves as an executive producer.
