A personal trainer in Liverpool says she burned an extra 250-300 calories per workout by adding one simple move at the end of each session: an incline walk.
Lamiz, who posts fitness advice on Instagram, tried the practice over two weeks and noticed a clear difference in both calorie burn and recovery. She described it as "no magic trick," just an easy way to increase the fat loss deficit without overcomplicating anything.
How the Incline Walk Works
Lamiz said she completes an incline walk after every workout. She suggested a speed of 5.5mph with a 10% incline, gradually increasing to 15% over a 20-30 minute period. She noted the low-intensity option helped her recovery through the week, especially after heavy lower body sessions, and boosted her step count on busy days.
She added: "I know cardio can be a chore but the benefits of it with your strength training will make your progress and results be more sustainable, better and improve your fitness overall."
Other Ways to Lose Weight
Beyond incline walking, cycling and swimming are also effective exercises for weight loss. Following a gym plan or seeking private sessions with a personal trainer can also help.
The NHS recommends a steady, sustainable approach through a balanced diet and regular physical activity, and offers a free 12-week app or online guide covering healthier food choices, calorie tracking, and daily activity habits. The plan is available via GP referral for adults aged 18 and over with a BMI of 30 or higher (or 27.5+ for Black, Asian, and ethnic minority backgrounds) who also have type 1 or 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or both.
