Daisy Fuentes, the iconic MTV VJ and Baywatch star, proved she still commands attention as she posed in a bright orange swimsuit while vacationing in St Barts with her husband, singer Richard Marx. The 58-year-old fashion designer and entrepreneur shared the sun-kissed photo on Instagram, captioning it, "I’m often asked what my favorite island is St Barth. Always, St. Barth… off season, of course #nocrowdsplease." The post garnered hundreds of compliments and a like from pal Bethenny Frankel.
A Storied Career
Fuentes rose to fame in the 1980s as a VJ for MTV, becoming a household name. She also appeared on the hit lifeguard drama Baywatch opposite David Hasselhoff and starred on Cybill with Cybill Shepherd. Her popularity led to sexy covers for Maxim, Stuff, and FHM, cementing her status as a global pinup. Beyond her on-screen success, Fuentes built one of the longest-running celebrity lifestyle brands, Daisy Fuentes Style, which has thrived for over two decades.
Embracing Aging
In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail in October, Fuentes opened up about her philosophy on aging. "I think that our philosophy on aging should reflect who we are, where we are, and our own evolution," she said. "I think that is truly what aging is, our own evolution. I've been many versions of myself." She noted that leaving behind past versions of herself is a natural part of the process, starting from when she turned 18 or 19.
Fuentes criticized Hollywood and society for promoting a one-size-fits-all approach to aging. "What most of society, especially Hollywood, gets wrong about aging, is that there is one specific way of doing it, that it should look any certain way," she explained. "It just doesn't. We all have our own way of doing things and of really evolving and feeling good with the different versions of ourselves." She emphasized that aging is personal and there is no single right way to do it.
Overcoming Fear of Judgment
Fuentes admitted she was once "nervous" about getting older, particularly due to public scrutiny. "There was a time where I was, like most people, nervous about getting older, especially when you grow up in front of the camera, when you're in your 20s," she shared. "You're doing swimsuit calendars and you're the girl of the moment, you age in front of the camera and then by the time that you're 40 or 50, people don't even know you." She acknowledged harsh social media comments, not just for herself but for many women aging beautifully. However, she has since let go of that fear, embracing her journey. "The only one that has to be comfortable in my skin is me," she said. "Aging gracefully has a very different definition for everyone. For some, it's a facelift; for others, it's letting hair go gray without Botox. Both are legitimate if they feel right."
Fuentes married Richard Marx on December 23, 2015, in a winter ceremony in Aspen, Colorado. Marx is a singer-songwriter with over 30 million albums sold worldwide, known for hits like "Right Here Waiting" and "Hold On to the Nights."
