Clean Greasy Kitchen Cabinets with 2-Ingredient Natural Solution
Clean Greasy Kitchen Cabinets with 2 Natural Ingredients

If your kitchen cabinets are looking a bit dirty, a cleaning expert says you can remove grease using just two natural household ingredients — with no scrubbing required.

Why Kitchen Cabinets Get Dirty

Regardless of how hard you try to keep the kitchen clean, some spots inevitably get dirtier than others. Kitchen cabinets, especially those with a matte or glass surface, require wiping down daily to look their best. Considering the kitchen serves as the home of food preparation, it's hardly surprising that cupboards and drawers often become covered in fingerprints and food marks. When neglected for extended periods, they can be extremely difficult to remove.

However, one cleaning specialist on social media says it's straightforward to make a homemade solution and that no scrubbing is required whatsoever.

The Cleaning Expert's Simple Solution

Cleaning influencer Chantel Mila, known as @mama_mila_ on TikTok, has built up over 1.6 million followers with straightforward tips everyone can try. She recently shared a video demonstrating how to clean your kitchen cabinets using only two basic ingredients you likely already have at home. In the caption, she wrote: "Say goodbye to tough grease on your kitchen cabinets. This mix is one of my favourites at cutting through tough grease and leaving your kitchen cabinets looking new again."

Baking soda and lemon juice are both known for their powerful cleaning capabilities, and when mixed together, they perform exceptionally well at removing stubborn stains while leaving a pleasant aroma.

How to Clean Kitchen Cabinets

For perfectly clean kitchen cabinets, you simply need a bowl and a quarter cup of baking soda. According to Chantel, this is 'powerful' at removing grease without scrubbing. Next, pour in a teaspoon of lemon juice. Chantel explained: "The citric acid helps to cut through grime." To finish, add one cup of water and stir the ingredients thoroughly. Use a clean cloth to work the solution into your kitchen cabinets with broad, circular strokes, then leave it for five minutes to allow the 'powerful' mixture to do its job.

The remaining lemon water can then be tipped down your sink, helping to deodorise it while breaking down any stubborn blockages that may have built up. To complete the process, take a warm, damp cloth to buff the solution from your cabinets, which should now appear 'shiny' courtesy of the lemon and baking soda.
