Luxury skincare brand Augustinus Bader has built a cult following among celebrities, dermatologists and beauty enthusiasts, thanks to its patented TFC8 technology. The range promises smoother texture, firmer skin and a brighter complexion – but with prices well into triple digits, is it worth the hype? I put some of the most talked-about products to the test on my oily, rosacea and congestion-prone skin.
The retinol serum is the standout product. It contains a vitamin C derivative, hyaluronic acid and the TFC8 complex, and is practically weightless, sinking into the skin instantly. I experienced no irritation, and it reduced texture with each use. However, it caused pilling under makeup, so it's best used at night. After two weeks, I saw less congestion across my cheekbones and increased volume on my forehead. The only downside is the high price, but it's a multitasker with more impressive ingredients than most anti-ageing serums I've tried.
The rich cream is recommended for normal to dry skin, but I found it suitable for oily skin too. Its texture is similar to sun cream but non-greasy, leaving a layer of moisture thanks to shea butter and squalane. It balanced hydration without making my skin shiny. You'll need four to five pumps per application, so the bottle empties quickly. After several weeks, my skin looked plumper, and fine lines between my eyebrows and across my forehead softened – likely due to the peptides in the formula.
Overall, the retinol serum is my favourite Augustinus Bader product. It's a serious investment, but it delivers visible results. The rich cream is also worth considering if you can afford the ongoing cost. Both products justify their price tags for those seeking high-performance skincare.
