Lola Young: Vaping makes breathing hard, won't quit until 35

Lola Young has admitted she is struggling to breathe after years of vaping, but the BRIT Award winner has no plans to kick the habit just yet.

The 25-year-old Messy singer opened up about her breathing in a candid TikTok filmed after she had stepped out of the shower. Wrapped in a towel, Lola recalled being warned that her vaping could eventually catch up with her.

‘My lungs feel like a giant battery’

She said: “‘Lola there will be a day where you wake up you’ll be 25 or 26, from a deep sleep, and you’ll start to feel the effects of vaping.’ “And do you know what I said? ‘Ha, nah’, and rolled my eyes. Let me tell you something, let me tell you something, the day has come. That day has come where my lungs feel like they’re battery powered, like they’re just one big battery.

“Breathing feels like a chore, feels like hard work, feels like I should be paid for breathing. Feels like I should be paid to breathe, a good wage, £30 an hour. And it feels like there will be no tomorrow.”

Fans urge singer to stop

Despite describing breathing as “hard work”, Lola made it clear she isn't ready to ditch her vape. She finished the video by declaring: “But let me tell you something, I’ll quit when I’m 35.”

Her admission prompted a flood of concerned comments from fans, with many urging the singer to think twice about continuing to vape.

One fan wrote: “Your lungs recover quickly when you quit, don’t risk that gorgeous voice for the vape my lovely”. Another pleaded: “Please stop now”.

“Take careeee of yourself we need you” added a third. One eagle-eyed follower also spotted Lola's vape sitting on the bed in the background of the video. They wrote: “Not the vape on the bed… Lol”.

Health concerns around vaping

Lola's comments come amid continued concerns around the potential health effects of vaping.

Scientists have warned that vaping, which has become increasingly popular in recent years, can increase the likelihood of lung and mouth cancer.
