Social media star Nara Smith has announced that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy, has been diagnosed with cancer. The 24-year-old trad-wife influencer, known for her low-voiced cooking videos on TikTok and Instagram, revealed the news to her 4.7 million followers.
Diagnosis and Immediate Response
Smith said she noticed something suspicious on Whimsy and took her to the ER. After initial uncertainty, a paediatrician's quiet reaction made her heart drop. Following X-rays, ultrasounds, and a biopsy, doctors confirmed cancer had spread and required immediate chemotherapy, which began late last year.
Family's Struggle and Support
Smith, who shares Whimsy with husband Lucky Blue Smith, has four children. She gave birth to their youngest, Fawnie Golden, in October last year. Navigating the diagnosis postpartum has been particularly challenging, balancing hospital visits with caring for other children and work.
She said: “There is no easy way to say this... When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER... I just remember him going really quiet and calm and my heart dropped in that moment.”
Community Outreach
Smith has turned to forums, social media, and conversations with other parents in the hospital to alleviate loneliness. She hopes sharing her story will comfort others and encourage them to seek medical checks. Singer Raye and supermodel Winnie Harlow were among those offering support.
