36M Boobs Nightmare: Mum's 2.5 Stone Breasts Cause Agony
Woman with 36M breasts crowdfunds for reduction

A Scottish mother is pleading for help as her extraordinarily large breasts, weighing a staggering two and a half stone, have made her daily life a constant battle with pain.

A Daily Struggle with Immense Weight

Melissa Ashcroft, a 30-year-old from Blairgowrie, wears a size 36M bra and describes the physical burden as a nightmare. She reveals that her mornings begin with a lengthy ritual of back stretches just to manage the agony enough to get out of bed. The stay-at-home mum says the relentless pain makes her feel like a '70-year-old'.

The situation has become so severe that Melissa is unable to perform the most basic tasks of motherhood. She cannot pick up her eight-month-old daughter, a reality she finds utterly heartbreaking. Even household chores like cleaning require frequent breaks to cope with the discomfort.

The NHS Hurdle and a Crowdfunding Plea

Melissa's quest for relief through breast reduction surgery has been fraught with obstacles. She first sought help a decade ago at the age of 20, but her GP advised her to wait until after she had children and breastfed them. Now, as a mother of two—a son aged seven and her infant daughter—a new barrier has emerged.

Earlier this year, the NHS informed her that her Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 is too high to qualify for the operation on the health service. She has been told she needs to reach a BMI of 27, which for her would mean losing weight to get down to around 11 stone. Medical professionals cited increased risks with anaesthesia, blood clots, and infections at her current weight.

However, Melissa finds herself in a cruel catch-22. The very pain caused by her heavy breasts prevents her from engaging in proper exercise to lose weight. "I can't go to the gym, it's too embarrassing and I can't go for a run because of the pain," she explained. While doctors have suggested her weight may naturally decrease as her post-pregnancy hormones settle, Melissa feels unable to wait and has turned to the public for support.

She is now crowdfunding £8,000 to have the breast reduction done privately, a procedure she believes would be a complete life-changer.

A Lifelong Burden and a Hopeful Future

Melissa's struggle with her body began in her youth. Ironically, she was bullied at school for being flat-chested before hitting puberty and developing rapidly. She recalls being taunted one minute for her flat chest and the next for allegedly stuffing her bra. She suspects her large bust is a hereditary trait, as both her mother and grandmother also have big breasts.

The financial cost is another heavy burden. Bras in her size cost a hefty £82 each. To illustrate the sheer weight of her condition, she once stood on scales while her husband held her breasts, and the reading dropped by two and a half stone.

For Melissa, successful surgery would mean more than just physical relief. "It would be all my Christmases in one day," she said. "I'd be able to play with my kids at the park and pick up my daughter." It represents the simple, priceless freedom of being an active and pain-free mother.
