A woman originally from Germany, now living in California, has spent over £38,000 on extreme body modifications, including silicone forehead implants, to achieve a 'city cyborg look'. Lina L., known as Cigno on Instagram, has undergone numerous procedures and now boasts over 81,000 followers on the platform.
After leaving her corporate job in the Bay Area earlier this year to become a full-time tattoo model and artist, Lina has had three more extreme modifications in the past month. These include 3D-Art implants for her forehead and chest, installed by Ian Bell using implant-grade silicone designed by Steve Haworth.
The silicone implants are placed fully under the skin using a scalpel incision, taking around 1.5 hours per procedure. Lina explained that the process can take up to three months to achieve the desired effect. She already has over 100 tattoos and is working on a complete bodysuit to resemble 'cyborg armour'.
Lina plans to have her tongue split and ears pointed next. She said she was always fascinated by body transformation and wanted to become a 'living canvas'. Through her modifications, she feels able to express herself freely and confidently without fear of judgment.
'I am part of a generation who teaches society to change their thinking, especially under the light of diversity,' she said. 'Self-expression means something different for any individual – the closer one comes with being who they truly want to be – the happier they are with themselves.'
