Former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh has announced she has booked surgery for endometriosis and adenomyosis, nearly a year after revealing her diagnosis. The 32-year-old, who is engaged to former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, shared the update on Instagram, saying she is 'sick of feeling like an alien has taken over my body'.

Lucy was diagnosed with both conditions early last year after experiencing 'unusual symptoms'. Endometriosis causes tissue similar to the womb lining to grow elsewhere, while adenomyosis involves endometrial tissue growing into the uterine muscle. The mum-of-two said the conditions have 'really affected her' since giving birth to daughter Lilah in 2022.

In a video posted to Instagram Stories, Lucy showed her bloated stomach and wrote: 'Today I finally made the decision to book in the surgery for my endometriosis and all the other horrible things going on in there.' She added: 'I'm so sick of feeling like an alien has taken over my body and wiped me of all my energy.'

Lucy previously shared a photo of her bloated stomach, saying she was 'fed up of trying to cover the bloating' she experiences 80% of the time. She noted that eating well and exercising help, but the anxiety of summer and wearing swimwear was 'really getting to me'.

She acknowledged that surgery may not improve all symptoms, but said: 'I won't know unless I try.' The reality star has been open about her health struggles, encouraging others to seek advice and support.
