Rod Stewart Spotted in Glasgow After Heart Surgery Recovery
Rod Stewart Seen After Heart Surgery Recovery

Rod Stewart has been seen in public for the first time since undergoing heart surgery, appearing at a UEFA Champions League match in Glasgow on Wednesday evening (19 August). The 81-year-old singer was accompanied by his 20-year-old son, Alastair, who wrapped his arm around his father as they watched Celtic take on Austrian side LASK.

Recovery After Stent Procedure

Just last week, on Tuesday, 11 August, Rod's team released an official statement confirming that the rock legend had "successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure." The statement added: "Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities."

However, on the advice of his doctors, Rod will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. "Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates," the statement read. "Information regarding affected performances will be communicated by the respective promoters and venues."

Tour Cancellations and Fan Update

Following the procedure, Rod has been forced to cancel several of his One Last Time concerts as part of his farewell tour in the US and Mexico. He also addressed fans directly, saying: "I'm already feeling better and very much on the mend. I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me."

"I'm deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon," he added.

Previous Health Concerns

Rod's health had already been a concern after he came close to fainting mid-set during a performance at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in June. In a video shared by an audience member, the singer was seen using an oxygen canister brought out by members of his team. "The show must go on," Rod told the crowd during his set. "I nearly f*****g fainted up here."
