Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts has been forced to withdraw from the final week of her West End run in the musical Hadestown on medical grounds. The performer, who is pregnant with her first child, requires a small surgical procedure and has been advised by her doctor that she cannot complete her scheduled shows.
Medical Advice Forces Show Cancellation
In a statement shared on social media on 9th January 2026, Roberts expressed her sadness and disappointment at the news. "I'm so sad and disappointed to have to share this news with you all," she wrote. "Today I have learnt that I have to undergo a small surgical procedure and have been informed by my doctor that as a result I will be unable to complete my final week of Hadestown shows. Everything is ok."
The 40-year-old had been playing the role of Persephone in the acclaimed production for the past five months. She assured fans that her health and that of her unborn baby were the priority, stating the decision was "completely out of my control" and that she must follow medical instructions.
Heartbreak Over Missed Final Performances
Roberts conveyed her heartbreak at not being able to share the stage with her castmates or perform for audiences one last time. "I am heartbroken I won't get to share the stage with my incredible cast who I love dearly and perform for the passionate Hadestown audiences," she said.
She described the role as a "dream come true" and apologised sincerely to fans who had organised trips and booked tickets specifically for her final week. The singer, who announced her pregnancy on Christmas Day 2025, is expecting her first child with fiancé, footballer Mitch Hahn, in the spring of 2026.
