Plastic surgeon shares anti-ageing skincare routine to look 10 years younger

Plastic surgeon Dr Matthew Nykiel has revealed a skincare routine he claims can make you look 10 years younger without surgery. In a TikTok video, the doctor, known as @socialplasticsurgeon, outlined a step-by-step regimen using prescription-grade products.

Dr Nykiel recommends starting with a gentle, fragrance-free and dye-free facial cleanser, followed by a pH-balanced toner. He then advises applying glycolic acid in the morning and retinoic acid (Retin-A) at night, along with hydroquinone, using only a pea-sized amount. A dye-free and perfume-free moisturiser and a good sunscreen should finish the routine to protect against UV damage.

When asked for product recommendations, Dr Nykiel suggested visiting a medspa, plastic surgeon or dermatologist for professional lines such as Obagi or Image. He emphasised that these products should be used under medical supervision to avoid burns or injury.

Responding to a viewer's concern about combining glycolic acid and retinol, Dr Nykiel advised that retinol should be introduced gradually, two to three times a week, depending on skin sensitivity. He also addressed a question about hydroquinone, noting that all products should be prescription-only and used under a doctor's care due to potential risks.

The surgeon stressed the importance of consulting a medical professional before incorporating new products into your skincare routine.
