Comedian Katherine Ryan has disclosed that she underwent plastic surgery just two months after the birth of her son Fred. In an interview promoting her autobiography 'The Audacity', Ryan spoke candidly about her decision to have breast implants, describing the procedure as 'aspirational'. The 38-year-old star, known for her uncompromising humour, said she felt no shame in opting for surgery so soon after childbirth.
Ryan, who gave birth to Fred 12 weeks ago, was photographed for her book cover while nine months pregnant, dressed in an ice-blue gown. She now balances motherhood with her career, with a breast pump visible alongside hair extensions in her London home. The comedian, who married her high school sweetheart Bobby in 2019 after reuniting through the BBC show 'Who Do You Think You Are?', described her husband as 'one of the first good men' she has dated.
In her memoir, Ryan reflects on her early life in Sarnia, Canada, including the murder of a friend by an ex-boyfriend when she was 19. She says the tragedy shaped her views on relationships and influenced her comedy, which often tackles dark themes. 'Without even knowing it I learned, "If you piss them off, they'll kill you,"' she recalled, adding that she only recently realised how scared she was.
Ryan also discussed the perception of her as an 'alpha' female, which she says leads some men to send her explicit requests for humiliation. 'The reason why people say women aren't funny is because it's alpha to be the only person in the room allowed to speak,' she explained. 'And I think we've only recently accepted that women can be alpha, too.'
