Sani Krishna, 35, traveled from London to Bangalore on her GP's advice to cure her depression. Days after arriving, she was run over by a tractor while riding a motorcycle taxi, leaving her with severe facial injuries and without a spleen.
Crash Details
Krishna was riding on the back of a Rapido motorcycle taxi when the driver crashed into a tractor in front of them. The driver was thrown aside, but Krishna was thrown under the tractor's wheels. She was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors removed her spleen and placed her on a ventilator. She is missing a lip and part of her facial flesh, and cannot talk or eat.
Background and Fundraising
Krishna had spent a year in London with her brother Arjun and ex-boyfriend, but struggled with her mental health. Her brother said: 'She used all of her savings to fund her trip. She is such an energetic and happy woman, but she started to struggle while living in London. So she went back to visit our parents, and just a few days later, the crash happened.' Arjun is raising money for medical treatment after the family used their savings for her trip. He said: 'My sister is beautiful, we are very close. I look up to her. She has suffered such severe injuries because the tractor wheels went right over her body. But I have faith she will get better.'
