Whoop, the fitness tracker brand, has announced a partnership with the cycle tracking app Natural Cycles to bring fertility tracking to its wearable device. As part of the launch, new Whoop members who sign up through this integration will receive a one-year subscription to Natural Cycles at no extra cost.
What is Whoop?
Whoop describes itself as a 'human performance company' and is known for its wrist-worn device that tracks sleep, recovery, strain, and fitness. The device, which has a 14-day battery life, links to a mobile app that includes an FDA-cleared ECG, a Healthspan longevity feature, blood pressure insights, and Advanced Labs blood biomarker analysis.
According to the brand, people who regularly wear Whoop log more than 90 minutes of exercise per week and get over two extra hours of sleep, along with higher heart rate variability.
Whoop and Natural Cycles
Whoop notes that cisgender women represent a growing share of new members, highlighting a demand for more insight into their bodies. The partnership with Natural Cycles, which is the first NDA-approved birth control app, aims to address this by leveraging Whoop's 24/7 health insights.
Natural Cycles provides fertility status by monitoring body temperature. Previously, users had to manually enter this data, but with the integration, compatible Whoop devices automatically capture overnight skin temperature, eliminating the need for manual tracking.
How to get started
The integration is currently available for users with Whoop MG and 5.0 devices. Those who sign up for a Whoop membership through this integration will receive a free year of Natural Cycles. Both companies emphasize their commitment to privacy and data security, ensuring that sensitive health information is managed with care.
