A row between neighbours over the smell of cooked meat has escalated after a vegan family issued a 'last warning' note to a meat-eating household. The initial request, asking for windows to be closed during cooking, was reportedly ignored, prompting a stronger response.
The first note read: 'Hello neighbour, could you please shut your side window when cooking please? My family are vegan (we eat only plant-based foods) and the smell of the meat you cook makes us feel sick and upset. We would appreciate your understanding.' The neighbour did not respond, leading the vegan family to send a second, more direct warning.
In the second note, the family expressed frustration, stating: 'I raised my concerns of the smell of meat making my family feel sick and upset and you go and have a barbecue on Saturday night inviting lots of people, and you knew this would affect me and my family.' The letters were later shared online, sparking widespread debate.
Opinions were divided, with some supporting the vegans' 'reasonable' request, while others criticised it. One commentator said: 'This is unbelievable, they want to tell you how to live in your own home.' Another noted a lack of community spirit, saying: 'They are both in the wrong!
